Jonathan Wilner "Mindscapes: A Journey into the Unconscious"
We will be showing the oil paintings of surrealist painter, Jonathan Wilner. As is the nature of surrealist art, Wilner delves into the thoughts and visuals of the unconscious. It seeps through while we are awake, he explains. Unlike dreaming, when the thoughts of the unconscious come to us while we are conscious, we are able to apply logic and worldly knowledge to these ideas. This combination is what he paints onto canvas. Landscapes and scenery that do not exist in the real world as he has depicted them. This creates a visual that asks questions and does not provide all of the answers. Wilner’s goal is that the viewers will draw their own conclusions from each piece. This means that the pieces themselves change depending on who is looking at them.
