"Community Management Teams have been formed to help identify and examine neighborhood problems and to develop strategies utilizing local resources. CMTs are generally comprised of the police supervisor, beat officers, block watch members, alderpersons, representatives of neighborhood based agencies, and any citizen who takes an active interest in neighborhood improvement. Participation in Management Teams is one way for concerned citizens to have a voice."

Current Issues:

City of New Haven Alarm Ordinance
On February 28, 2010 the NHPD will start billing repeat offenders for response to false alarms. Anyone with an alarm (even if previously registered) will need to register/re-register their alarms with the police department. This is FREE and the forms are available from your alderperson or at CMT meetings. You may also download the form by going to cityofnewhaven.com and clicking on "forms" and scrolling down to "police related forms" and clicking on "alarm registration". It is a pdf form and can be printed from your home computer. The deadline for submitting forms is February 19, 2010. A new computer software system will automatically track, send warning letters and bill alarm customers.

The new fine structure is as follows:
- Failure to register your alarm — $99
- First false alarm - free
- Second - $75
- Third - $150
-  Fourth, etc - $250
