Jemma Williams
I am an artist and designer living in ArLoW II, on the corner of Whalley and West Rock Ave.
As a maker of handmade plush, I am continuing to work on a series of creatures, called Jemmanimals. I am looking for that cozy place to curl up in somewhere between the handcrafted uprising and the designer toy phenomenon.
As a dressmaker and handbag designer, I use alternative materials to create unique pieces that are both functional and provocative, while exploring the limits of each materials' usability.
In August 2007, I started working as the Communications Director for Artspace, New Haven's premier contemporary gallery for emerging artists.
In September 2007, I started a gallery with my partner, John Bent, in our apartment, entitled Hello My Name Is Gallery.
