Tonight’s event is a kickoff fundraiser toward a new concert grand piano, which will allow Lyric Hall to present classical music concerts on a regular basis.

 

 

Founded in 2014, Virtuoso Soloists of New York (VSNY) unites some of the finest young musicians in New York, Boston and Chicago. Each player comes from a diverse background, and brings his or her own personality, culture, life-experiences and musical flair to every performance. Bound together by a passion for musical exploration and excellence, VSNY attracts new audiences by crafting unique programs that highlight the connection between well-known classics and newly-commissioned pieces.

 

The innate versatility of VSNY allows the group to transform between small and large chamber groups ranging from solo piano to string quintets and beyond. The fluid nature of the ensemble opens up a diverse range of repertoire, engaging the audience with a variety of timbres and a plethora of sounds. The VSNY experience conjures the feeling of an intimate 19th-century salon concert in a modern setting. Audience members leave with a strong connection to both the music and the musicians.

 

VSNY has performed extensively during the course of their two-year existence, both in the United States and abroad. Most recently, they completed a two-week tour of Northern Italy, including a residency at the Udine National Conservatory. This tour brought to fruition the group’s collaboration with Italian composer Mario Pagotto, who dedicated a new piece to the group. In three sold-out concerts, VSNY performed premiers of Pagotto’s work alongside a newly commissioned piece by Boston University composer, John H. Wallace and masterpieces from the standard repertoire. In light of the group’s acclaimed performances, VSNY was offered a contract to record a CD of Pagotto’s music, which will be released by the MEP label in the Spring of 2016.

 

Everywhere they perform, VSNY is committed to bringing music outside the concert hall, ranging from cafés and bars to retirement homes and hospitals. VSNY’s events have elicited sponsorships from a variety of organizations including wineries, breweries, and other associations:, Esporão and Mionetto wineries, and the Italian-American Chamber of Commerce, to name a few. This season, VSNY looks forward to concerts across Boston, New York and Chicago.
