George Gershwin’s Romance with Kay Swift Shining a musical spotlight on the untold romance between Jazz Age composer George Gershwin and trailblazing Broadway composer Kay Swift, this theatrical concert is a celebration of their love, song by irresistible song. Enhancing the story are unpublished photos from the archives of The Kay Swift Trust, private recordings and never-before-seen letters, which offer a rare glimpse into their remarkable affair. Musical selections include such Gershwin favorites as I’ve Got a Crush on You, Embraceable You, Love Is Sweeping the Country, ‘Swonderful, Who Cares?, Summertime, They Can’t Take That Away From Me, and Let’s Call The Whole Thing Off. Gems from Kay Swift’s catalog of hits include her standards Can’t We Be Friends?, Fine and Dandy, and Can This Be Love? Tickets are $25.00 PURCHASE HERE The program’s host and pianist is Broadway conductor Aaron Gandy, who serves as Artistic Adviser to the Kay Swift Trust. The New York City-based Broadway singers are soprano Merrill Grant (Lincoln Center, Scotland’s Edinburgh Festival) and tenor Sean Doherty (LEAP OF FAITH, Theatreworks). Direction and Multimedia Design is by Mark York, Founder and Executive Director of NYC’s Ziegfeld Society (www.theziegfeldsociety.com). Support and rare archival materials are provided by The Kay Swift Memorial Trust, located in Bethany, CT, which was established by the Estate of Kay Swift to provide stewardship of the body of music, to enable scholarship about the life and work of Kay Swift, and to perpetuate performance, recording and publication of her music.
