Friends of Edgewood Park Chili Cook-Off

The Friends of Edgewood Park  fourth annual chili cook-off was held on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010 at Coogan Pavilion. (The yearly event runs from 4 to 7 p.m. Meat and vegetarian chilis are be offered. Prizes for the cooks. FREE with FOEP membership. Nonmembers can join at the door.)

Here's the lineup of the 2010 winners:

The meat categories were swept by first time competitor Shirley Dixon, who tied with Michael Pinto for Spiciest, and won Most like Mama's, Most Unique Flavor, and My Favorite Meat Chili.

Richard Burford, who tied for the Most Like mama's category in 2009, came in 2nd for Most Like mama's, tied with Greg Dildine.  Richard also came in second for My Favorite Meat Chili.

Glyn Churchman, who won Spiciest, most unique flavor, and tied most like mama's in 2009, came in second for most unique flavor this year.

In the Vegetarian categories:

Zack Lozon won My Favorite Vegetarian Chili and Most Unique Flavor with his White Bean Chili.
Sharon Lovett-Graff won Most Like Mama's.  
Keren Kurti-Alexander won Spiciest.

 

In 2008, FOEP member Tatiana Arias-O'Connor cooked up the winning meat chili recipe. See below for her recipe and for pictures of the event. Thanks to all the chefs and tasters! And thanks again to Debby Evans for organizing such a great event!
